The Authority of the Believer
Do you know what happened when you made Jesus Christ the Lord of your life? Many people believe they received only a free ticket to Heaven. Now they are Christians, because they believe Jesus' blood was shed for their sins, and they have the gift of eternal life. Whew -- what a relief! Saved from eternal damnation in the lake of fire. But the next day, they are still the same people, with the same problems, and no new solutions. One day, they say, this will all be over, and we'll be in Heaven with Jesus. But until that time, we just have to tough it out here on earth. Many believe whatever happens to them is the will of God, simply because it happened.
But what does the Bible say? The Bible is God's thoughts put into words, so you and I can KNOW Him. We can know what He thinks by what His Word (the Bible) says. The Bible says when you received Christ, you became "a new creation in Christ Jesus". Your spirit man (the real you) was actually re-created by the power of God when you said Jesus is my Lord! The Bible says that by the blood of Jesus, God translated you, in a heartbeat, out of the kingdom of darkness (where the devil rules) into the "Kingdom of His dear Son" -- where Jesus is Lord. Yes, you received the gift of eternal life when you got saved, but God gifted you with SO MUCH MORE!
God gave you the power and authority to overcome every obstacle, adversity, hinderance that comes your way -- not in Heaven -- there won't be any such in that great place. But right here on earth. He saved you to put you back in the right relationship with Him and with the world: the same relationship Adam had in the beginning. When God formed man from the dust of the earth, He said, "let us make man in our image". Mankind was created in the same image as God -- the same likeness. "And let him have dominion over all the earth" -- God told Adam to "subdue the earth, dress it and keep it". Adam had right standing with God (righteousness) and dominion and authority over all the earth and everything in it. That was God's original plan for mankind. They were to rule and reign on the earth, just as He rules and reigns in Heaven. And they were to walk and have fellowship with Him.
Though Adam sinned, and sold out his position of authority to Satan, God did not change His mind about His plan for mankind. His plan has not changed through all the years. By the shed blood of Jesus, washing us clean from the sin nature we received through Adam's sin, we again have right standing with God: we are "the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus". We have our fellowship and communion with the Father restored. But that was only part of the plan. He still intends for man to rule and reign on planet earth until Jesus returns. He still expects us to have dominion and authority over the enemy, to overtake the kingdom of darkness and bring people into the Kingdom of Light. Just like the Israelites, He still expects us to possess the land.
For too long the Church has been weak and ineffective. We have not known our spiritual authority and have allowed the enemy to take over and control our lives, our children, our communities and our nation. Jesus said, "The thief cometh not but for to steal, kill and destroy, but I have come that you might have life, and have it more abundantly". Jesus came to set us free from all manner of stealing, killing and destroying. He came to restore to us sonship in the family of God. He wants you to enjoy an abundant life, free from povery, sickness, pain, distress, depression, anxiety, weakness, strife and confusion.
The Bible says, "my people perish for a lack of knowledge". God has provided everything in Christ Jesus that pertains to life and godliness. But because we have not known what was provided, we have not walked in it and enjoyed the fruit of it. 2011 can be your best year ever, if you will study the Word of God, receive His knowledge, and act in faith on that knowledge. You will see your faith in God's Word produce a bountiful harvest in your life. This is the year for the Church, the Body of Christ, to TAKE BACK all the enemy has stolen and to possess the land!
